Metrosexual

Welcome to my new blog 'Metrosexual'....here I will discuss all things that are encompassed in the word...so what does the word actually mean?

Well it's a buzzword and with all buzzwords it's hard to actually define and means lots of different things to lots of different people, however I will give it my best shot in the good old format of bulletpoints....

• A modern man who is in touch with his feminine side
• Takes pride in his appearance and uses all sorts of beauty products to make himself look good
• Down with the latest fashions and trends, be that hairstyles, clothes, gadgets, night hotspots
• Causes confusion in men and some girls to his sexuality (yes I've been asked if I'm gay more times than I'd care to mention!)
• Physically fit...even if it is just to look good rather than for health concious reasons!
• Easily intereracts with girls/women...ok ok flirts well with girls/women!

There are a million other factors cooking, cleaning, urbanite, design savvy that make up the thoroughly modern metrosexual man but it would take the whole of cyberspace to list them all.

All men a while back used to be what I would desribe as 'machosexual' where they never did any of the things above and left all that sort of stuff to the opposite sex. I suppose the transformation that Mel Gibson's character goes through in the movie 'What women want' is really a man going from the stereotypical 'machosexual' to 'metrosexual' and is probably the best way to show both sides in film.

If I was to sum up metrosexual in two words it would be David Beckham. He is the epitome of everything I have just described above. Yes there are lots of other celebs that are typical metros Timberlake, Pitt, Bloom, Gyllenhall I could go on, in fact there are even top 10 lists these days But Dave for me is the best example, stylish, confident, good at his job! and a great role model (taking the whole Rebecca Loos thing out of the equation...did that actually happen?).

So I've hopefully summed up what it means then...allow me to let you know what you will be reading here in future. I will discuss my thoughts and opinions all things metrosexual. From the latest hair craze, skinny ties going out of fashion, new must have gadgets, eye wrinkle removal creams that cost over 50 quid or whether it's ok to wear your manbag inside as well as outside!
